Buying 7-OH tablets online is not complicated. Doing it well is, because the category has almost no federal oversight and the difference between a good vendor and a bad one is invisible until you open the pack. This guide is the process we would apply to any seller, including ourselves.
Start with the legal position where you live
Everything else is academic if the product is not lawful for you to buy. State law moves faster than federal law, and it moves in both directions — Rhode Island repealed its own kratom ban in April 2026, while Tennessee’s took effect in July. Alabama, Arkansas, Connecticut, Indiana, Kansas, Louisiana, Tennessee, Vermont and Wisconsin ban kratom outright; Massachusetts has issued an emergency statewide restriction; and Florida, Ohio, Virginia, Colorado and South Carolina restrict concentrated 7-OH specifically while permitting leaf.
Check our state-by-state legality map first, and confirm against current state law rather than trusting a cached article from last year. Our KCPA explainer covers the thirty-plus states that regulate the category properly.
The certificate of analysis is the whole game
A certificate of analysis is the only document that tells you what is actually in a product. Ask for a current one, for the batch you are buying, before you spend money. Then read it properly:
- A named accredited laboratory. In-house testing by the seller is not independent verification.
- A stated analytical method. High-performance liquid chromatography is the standard. A report that gives a number without naming its method tells you very little. We explain how HPLC testing protects buyers.
- Contaminants, not only potency. Heavy metals and microbials matter as much as alkaloid content.
- A batch identifier you can match. The report should correspond to what is arriving on your doorstep.
Our line-by-line walkthrough, how to read a 7-OH certificate of analysis, uses a real report so you can see what good and bad look like side by side. Every ZOHM batch report is available from our lab tests page.
Read the label the right way
Milligrams per tablet, not percentages. A label reading “5% 7-OH” describes a proportion of total alkaloids and tells you nothing about the quantity in the tablet in front of you. A label reading “40mg per tablet, 6 tablets” is a usable claim you can verify and compare.
That standardization is also why isolates behave differently from raw leaf. If you are coming from powder and wondering why the experience differs, why raw leaf causes nausea while isolates do not explains the plant-matter problem, and the receptor affinity research explains the potency question honestly, including what the evidence does not support.
Compare value properly
Price per pack is meaningless. Price per milligram of verified 7-OH is the only fair comparison, and it regularly reverses the apparent ranking between vendors. Our milligram-per-dollar breakdown shows the arithmetic, and blister packs versus bulk bottles covers how packaging affects the real cost of what you actually consume.
Signs a vendor should worry you
No current lab report. Strength stated only as a percentage. No working contact address. No published refund policy. Effect claims that read like drug claims — the FDA treats kratom as an unapproved new drug and has issued warning letters to 7-OH manufacturers, so a seller promising to treat a condition is telling you they do not understand their own compliance position. Our ultimate pre-purchase checklist collects all of it in one place, and the five mistakes first-time buyers make covers the errors we see most often.
Checkout and delivery
Pay by card, because it gives you dispute rights if an order never arrives; our guide to buying 7-OH with a credit card covers what a secure checkout should look like. Confirm the shipping terms before you buy — ours are on the shipping policy page — and know the refund policy, since consumables cannot be returned once opened.
Where ZOHM sits
If you want to see the process applied rather than described, the range runs from 22mg Tangerine Dream for first-time buyers up to 120mg Blacked Out, which is quad-scored so it divides into 30mg quarters. Everything is in the shop, and the FAQ page answers the fifty-odd questions we get most often.
